Job summary

BildGroup in Adelaide (Wingfield) is seeking a permanent, full-time Leading Hand to lead a civil crew across earthworks, drainage and traffic management. You will report to the Site Supervisor and ensure safety, quality and productivity on site.

This on-site role requires a hands-on leader with experience directing crews, HR licence and plant tickets, a White Card and a can-do attitude to work on the tools alongside your team.

Qualifications

• Civil construction background with earthworks and drainage experience.
• Experience directing a crew on site, formally or informally.
• HR Licence and plant tickets including excavator, skid steer, roller or similar.
• Current driver licence and White Card.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Can do attitude and willingness to work on the tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead & oversee crew across civil work including earthworks, drainage, pavements and services.
• Provide field leadership for civil work activities with clear direction.
• Operate plant equipment as required (water cart, excavator, skid steer, roller).
• Ensure all plant/equipment are pre-started and in good working condition.
• Drive a strong safety culture and ensure OH&S compliance.

About the Role

Permanent, full-time Leading Hand position based in Wingfield. You will be working across civil infrastructure projects throughout the greater Adelaide metro & regional area, reporting directly to the Site Supervisor. This is a hands‑on operational role where you will lead a team of operational crew members and contractors. As a primary on‑site leader, you will be the person your crew looks to for safety, quality, and productivity.

Key responsibilities

• Lead & oversee crew across civil work including traffic management, drainage, earthworks, pavements, and civil services
• Provide field leadership for civil work activities through clear direction and communication
• Operate plant equipment as required including water cart, excavator, skid steer, roller
• Ensure all plant and equipment are pre‑started correctly and is in good working condition and kept clean, safe and operational
• Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all operational, environmental and OH&S requirements

What you will need

• Civil construction background with direct bulk earthworks and drainage experience
• Demonstrated experience directing a crew on site, formally or informally
• HR License and plant tickets including excavator, skid steer, roller or similar
• Current driver license and White Card
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
• Can do attitude & willingness to get on the tools. This is a working leading hand role
