Job summary

Alstom invites applications for a Lead Technician to support the next generation G Class Trams. The role is based on-site in Maidstone, VIC, five days a week, working with the Project PI Manager to maintain safety, performance and reliability of the tram fleet.

You will test, troubleshoot and analyse subsystems, implement baseline software changes and drive continuous improvement through data insights and fault analysis. Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in testing, troubleshooting and fault-finding across electrical, software or rolling stock systems.
  • Strong skills in electrical schematics, diagnostics, log analysis and technical problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to a range of stakeholders.
  • A customer-focused, safety-first mindset with flexibility to work.
  • VIC Electrical license.

Responsibilities

  • Executing testing activities across tram subsystems, including functional, integration, regression, type and routine testing.
  • Troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical and software faults to maintain fleet performance and reliability.
  • Analysing test results, fault logs and operational data to identify root causes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Driving reliability initiatives through RCA, FRACAS investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Utilising specialist diagnostic tools and train software to monitor performance, investigate failures and generate insights.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver timely solutions and exceptional customer outcomes.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture while building trusted, long-term relationships with customers and internal teams.

Your future role

Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives on uncovering faults, improving performance, and keeping complex systems running at their best? Join Alstom's Product Introduction team and play a pivotal role in supporting the next generation G Class Trams.

As a Lead Technician, you'll be at the forefront of tram performance and reliability, working closely with the Project PI Manager to ensure our trams operate safely, efficiently, and seamlessly in service.

From testing and analysing train subsystems to troubleshooting technical issues, implementing baseline software modifications, and driving continuous reliability improvements, no two days will be the same. The role will be primarily based in Maidstone, VIC, and requires to be on site 5 days a week.

We’ll look to you for:
  • Executing testing activities across tram subsystems, including functional, integration, regression, type and routine testing.
