Job summary

KBR in Sydney is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to lead safety programs across a Defence sustainment contract. The role involves developing safety cases, directing assurance activities, and advising on risk and compliance. A Baseline security clearance or higher is required, with eligibility for ITAR.

Qualifications

• A degree as a qualified engineer.
• 10+ years of systems safety experience in Defence or similar high‑risk industries.
• Strong knowledge of safety engineering standards and Defence regulatory frameworks, including certification and seaworthiness requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of the System Safety Program and Safety Case Reports.
• Direct safety assurance activities in line with the In-Service Safety Program (ISSP).
• Review safety cases and assessments for new and existing capabilities.
• Support engineering change activities ensuring safety design integration.
• Provide risk-based technical advice to senior engineering leadership.
