Job summary

Western Australian Fabrication Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead our structural steel fabrication workshop, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery.

You will work closely with Production Planning, QA/QC, HSE, Drafting, Transport, and Project Teams to drive lean improvements, mentor supervisors and trades, and foster accountability and continuous improvement.

This hands-on leadership role requires a strong technical background and a passion for high-performing teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as Workshop Manager in structural steel fabrication.
• Trade qualification in Boilermaking or welding
• High Risk Work Licences including Forklift, Dogging, or Rigging
• Ability to read engineering drawings and fabrication documentation
• Knowledge of WHS legislation and continuous improvement principles
• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Engineering or related discipline

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all structural steel fabrication workshop operations.
• Plan labour, equipment, and resources to meet fabrication schedules and project deadlines.
• Drive productivity, efficiency, and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Lead daily production meetings and toolbox talks.
• Ensure safety, compliance with WHS legislation, procedures, and standards.
• Mentor and develop supervisors, leading hands, boilermakers, and welders.
