Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a senior leader to drive the long-term strategic management of the heavy rail control systems, data and communications asset portfolio. You will act as asset owner, influencing investment decisions to maximise value and network performance.

You will lead development of asset management plans and integrate technical, financial, and governance insights to support renewal and future capability, partnering with senior leaders across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in strategic asset management within rail, transport or complex infrastructure environments.
• Strong understanding of rail control systems, communications assets or other critical operational technologies.
• Proven ability to develop asset class strategies, investment plans and business cases.
• Experience in asset governance, assurance, risk management and lifecycle decision-making.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across technical and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

Shape the future performance of NSW's heavy rail network by leading strategic asset custodianship, investment planning and assurance for the critical control systems, data and communications assets that underpin safe, reliable and connected passenger services.

In this role, you'll:

Lead the long-term strategic management of NSW’s heavy rail control systems, data and communications asset portfolio, ensuring assets are safe, reliable, sustainable and aligned with broader transport and infrastructure priorities. Acting as the asset owner, you will influence investment decisions that maximise whole-of-life value and network performance.

Drive the development and continuous improvement of strategic asset management plans and asset management plans, translating complex technical, operational and financial insights into evidence-based recommendations that support renewal, enhancement and future control system capability.

Partner with senior leaders across Transport for NSW to develop integrated investment plans, balancing long-term infrastructure needs, operational performance, emerging technologies and funding constraints. Your leadership will help shape the future direction of critical rail systems and digital infrastructure.

Provide technical assurance across the asset lifecycle, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and governance requirements while championing innovation, technology integration and continuous improvement to support customer and operational outcomes.
