Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Solution Architect to join a large Federal Government program delivering strategic technology initiatives within a complex and highly regulated environment.
This role will be responsible for providing architecture leadership across multiple delivery streams, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles and organisational technology strategy. The successful candidate will lead a team of Solution Architects while working closely with business and technical stakeholders to shape and govern enterprise‑grade technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of Solution Architects, providing technical leadership and architectural direction
- Design and assure end‑to‑end technology solutions that meet business, security, integration and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solution architectures
- Develop and maintain architecture artefacts, design documentation, architectural decisions and governance materials
- Provide architecture governance and delivery oversight to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and target‑state architectures
- Contribute to enterprise architecture roadmaps and future‑state technology planning
- Evaluate emerging technologies and drive continuous improvement across architecture practices and delivery approaches
- Support agile delivery teams through solution assurance, architecture reviews and technical decision‑making
Technical Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Solution Architecture, Systems Architecture or Enterprise Architecture roles within government or regulated environments
- Demonstrated experience leading architecture teams, practices or capability functions
- Strong experience producing end‑to‑end solution designs, architecture artefacts and governance documentation
- Experience working within Scaled Agile (SAFe) environments, including Program Increment planning and architecture prioritisation
- Strong understanding of architecture governance, technology risk management and architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or SABSA
- Experience integrating emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, into enterprise environments
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Strong experience across Microsoft technologies including Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure Services, Power BI and .NET Core
Desirable
- TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Dynamics 365, Power Platform or other relevant Microsoft certifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
- Knowledge of Australian Government security, privacy, digital and records management frameworks including PSPF and ISM
