Job summary

The NSW Health NSW Newborn Screening Programme at Westmead seeks a Principal Scientific Officer to lead the state reference laboratory responsible for newborn screening in NSW and ACT. This role requires steering quality, innovation and strategic direction for the division.

You will oversee laboratory science, mentor staff, and collaborate with the SCHN network to ensure exceptional child health outcomes and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of newborn screening science.
• Ability to drive service development and change in line with quality principles.
• Leadership, mentorship and role modelling within a clinical laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality and performance of all aspects of the NBS laboratory.
• Represent the laboratory at state, national and international levels.
• Drive development of services to meet customer needs and implement change.
• Collaborate with the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network to deliver services.
