Job summary

Austal is seeking a Lead Scheduler based in Cairns to develop high-level and detailed activity schedules within the ISS planning framework, ensuring project deliverables meet client expectations.

You will lead the scheduling team, create project baselines, manage resources, and drive continuous improvement across scheduling practices to support ISS contracts and program delivery.

Qualifications

• 10 years scheduling experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role in complex marine environments.
• Engineering or Naval Architecture qualification completed.
• Primavera 101/102 training or equivalent scheduling experience.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in schedules.
• Strong stakeholder management and customer service focus.
• Results oriented with risk awareness and continuous improvement mindset.
• Eligible for Defence Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the scheduling team to deliver scheduling and planning services to internal and client teams.
• Develop high-level schedules and project baselines using defined frameworks.
• Create detailed project schedules for teams delivering products within contracts.
• Develop resource plans to support capacity and program delivery.
• Drive best practices for consistent, accurate, and reliable schedules.
• Develop workflows and Earned Value reporting with cost controllers.
• Drive continuous improvement of scheduling and reporting systems with stakeholders.
• Ensure schedules support operational capacity planning for ISS contracts.

Job description

Based in Cairns the Lead Scheduler will be responsible to develop high level and detailed activity schedules in accordance with the ISS planning framework, to meet project deliverables and exceed client expectations.

What's Involved

• Lead the scheduling team to provide a sought-after scheduling and planning service to internal project management and ship management teams and the customer.
• Develop high-level schedules and project baselines using a defined frameworks
• Develop resource plans to support operational capacity planning and program delivery planning for relevant contracts.
• Create detailed project and activity schedules for each team delivering products within relevant contracts.
• Drive good practice across the delivery community to achieve consistency, accuracy and reliability of schedules.
• Develop standards, processes and workflows to support robust scheduling practices.
• Develop Earned Value Management reporting and variance controls in conjunction with cost controllers and program leaders.
• Drive continuous improvement of the scheduling and reporting system through collaboration with stakeholders to drive operational excellence.
• Accountable for the development of high-level schedules and project baselines to support operational capacity planning and program delivery planning of ISS contracts.

You'll Need

• 10 years of scheduling experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role in complex marine environments (ship building or sustainment, or transferrable sector)
• Tertiary Engineering qualification or Naval Architecture qualification.
• Minimum certificate 101, 102 Primavera training / or relevant experience working in a Primavera scheduling role.
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong Stakeholder management and customer service focus
• Results oriented, pursues improvement and outcomes while maintaining risk awareness.
• Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance.
