Job summary

Kapsch is seeking a Senior Systems/Commissioning Engineer to lead installation, commissioning, testing, and upgrades of complex roadside systems as part of our transportation solutions team in Australia. You will coordinate with Solution Centers, prepare documentation, and mentor engineers during delivery and operations.

We value a degree in Engineering, 5+ years in high-reliability systems, strong troubleshooting, and solid knowledge of databases, networking, Windows, Linux, and Microsoft

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience installing and commissioning high‑reliability systems in transportation, communications, or similar industries.
• Strong hands‑on troubleshooting and fault‑finding capabilities in complex IT environments.
• Solid knowledge of databases, networking, Windows, Linux, and Microsoft technologies.
• Understanding of electrical standards and WHS requirements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic project environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead roadside systems installation, commissioning, testing, and upgrade activities across projects.
• Collaborate with Solution Centers during design and planning phases, reviewing designs and recommending improvements.
• Prepare, maintain, and manage engineering and design documentation.
• Support continuous improvement of engineering processes, installation standards, and commissioning procedures.
• Coordinate onsite activities, including contractor supervision, customer engagement, and resource management.
• Contribute to project planning, scoping, and delivery of new system implementations.
• Provide technical input and resource estimates for new customer proposals in partnership with Sales.
• Develop and deliver technical training materials while mentoring engineers and technicians.
• Monitor system performance and provide technical support to maintain availability and reliability.
• Analyze system data, logs, and diagnostics to identify issues and implement solutions with Solution Centers.
• Track, manage, and communicate technical support issues with stakeholders and customers.
• Maintain expertise across networking, Linux, Windows, SQL, and Microsoft Office environments.
• Ensure compliance with engineering, electrical, and HSSEQ standards and procedures.
• Maintain accurate product documentation and records related to system faults, maintenance, and performance.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations for training sessions, customers, and corporate events.
