Job summary

Hatch in Perth, Western Australia, is seeking a Specialist Pyrometallurgical Engineer to lead process engineering activities across the full project lifecycle from concept studies to detailed design and commissioning support.

You will design and optimise metallurgical flowsheets for greenfield and brownfield projects, mentor junior engineers, and engage with clients to drive value through advanced process simulations using METSIM or SysCAD.

Qualifications

• Experience in consulting/EPCM or operations within minerals processing or metallurgical industries.
• Degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Strong pyrometallurgy capability; hydrometallurgy knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with commodities such as lithium, nickel, copper, gold, or rare earths.

Responsibilities

• Lead process engineering activities across the full project lifecycle from concept to commissioning support.
• Own key deliverables and drive multidisciplinary technical decisions.
• Manage early-stage studies focusing on process development and optimisation.
• Design and optimise metallurgical flowsheets for greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Develop process models using METSIM or SysCAD to optimise performance.
• Prepare process design documentation including calculations and datasheets.
• Support client engagement, contribute to proposals, and mentor junior engineers.
