Job summary

Fugro Roadware is seeking a Lead (Subsea) Project Engineer based in West Perth. The role involves leading subsea and ROV project delivery, occasional offshore work, and site visits, with close collaboration with the Project Manager and operations teams.

You will interface with clients, drive multiple work packages, oversee HSE/quality and commercial delivery, and mentor engineers while evaluating emerging engineering technologies for integration into projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering as specified; offshore/subsea experience preferred.
• Extensive subsea/offshore engineering and project delivery experience.
• Strong communication with clients and internal teams; leadership in multi-disciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Manager and teams to execute project scopes.
• Interface with clients and manage large work packages.
• Ensure HSE, quality and commercial delivery across projects.
• Evaluate and integrate new engineering technologies.
• Supervise and develop senior staff through design reviews and offshore execution.
• Review engineering documentation before PM/client approval.
• Collaborate with PM to improve project commercial outcomes.

The Opportunity

Due to recent project awards, we are seeking a Lead (Subsea) Project Engineer to join our established engineering team for upcoming subsea and ROV projects . This role is based in West Perth and requires occasional project site visits and offshore work.

• Working with the Project Manager, Project Engineers and Operational Team to execute project work scopes
• Interface and communicate with clients.
• Take responsibility for large and/or multiple work packages and ensure HSE / quality and commercial delivery.
• Evaluating and enhancing emerging and existing engineering technologies, collaborating with the Engineering team to integrate them into projects.
• Supervising and guiding senior and project engineers through technical development, design review, constructability, HAZID workshops, and offshore execution.
• Review all engineering documentation prior to Project Manager / Client approval.
• Collaborate with the project manager to improve commercial oversight and outcomes

About You

We're looking for a leader who is approachable, collaborative, and takes ownership. You build strong relationships, communicate clearly, and bring a positive, solution-focused mindset.

Your success in securing this role will require:

• Extensive experience in subsea/offshore engineering and project delivery.
• A Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical, mechatronic, structural, or ocean engineering, or naval architecture.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project. Experience with specialist software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks is also desirable.
• A full driver's license.
• The ability to obtain an offshore survival course and pass the associated medical exam.
• You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a full, valid work visa.
