Job summary

Atlassian is hiring a Senior Product Designer for Design Systems. You will shape the Atlassian Design Language and tokens, ensuring coherence across products and platforms.

The role focuses on AI-native interfaces, semantic design, and scalable component libraries. You will collaborate with product design, engineering, content design, brand, and platform teams to translate concepts into practical guidance, specifications, and reusable capabilities, driving adoption and quality across Atlassian

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in product design, visual systems, and design systems.
• Excellent visual design craft, including visual communication and UI design.
• Hands-on experience designing and delivering design tokens, themed systems, and scalable component libraries.
• Strong systems thinking to turn direction into structured, production-ready designs.
• Practical AI fluency, including use of AI tools for daily exploration, prototyping, or workflow acceleration.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the Atlassian Design Language: evolve the visual design for coherence, high quality, tokens, themes, interactions, components.
• Design for AI-native, adaptive interfaces: systemise design decisions for consistent, accessible UI while preserving brand expression.
• Turn ambiguity into scalable system solutions: de-risk visual/system problems with high-fidelity explorations and prototypes.
• Partner across disciplines: work with product design, engineering, content design, brand, and platform to translate concepts into guidance and reusable capabilities.
• Raise the bar for craft, context, and adoption: provide critique, usage guidance, and support teams adopting ADS capabilities.
