Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is seeking a Lead Practitioner in Disability Services (NDIS) to lead and mentor a team delivering high-quality care for people with disabilities in Chermside. The role focuses on collaboration with clients, families and networks to support everyday living and safe service delivery.

The role requires leadership experience, safeguarding knowledge, and the ability to manage resources, budgets and reporting while upholding rights, privacy and dignity of clients and families.

Qualifications

  • Leadership experience in a similar role and relevant qualifications in the Human Services, Community Services or related industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and mentor staff, working within established budget, direction and guidelines.
  • Experience with internal and external reporting matrices and case management.
  • Understanding of family autonomy, choice and safeguarding principles for clients.
  • Knowledge of safety auditing requirements and driving safety measures.
  • Familiarity with disability legislation and quality of life issues for people with a disability.
  • NDIS worker orientation module completed and capacity to undertake On-Call responsibilities.
  • Current Positive Notice from Disability Services and willingness to undergo Working with Children Check and Blue Card.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificates.

  • Ensure safe, efficient and sustainable day-to-day management of resources including staff, records, budget, buildings and vehicles.

  • Employment Term: Permanent Full Time

  • Location: Chermside

  • Remuneration: $46.70 p/hr + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

Your part in our UnitingCare team
  • Work in collaboration with people with disabilities, their families, and personal networks to
    assist the people we serve in everyday living situations

  • Mentor, lead and manage a team of Disability Support Practitioners to deliver high quality care and support

  • Ensure safe efficient and sustainable day to day management of resources for particular
    arrangements, including staff, records, budget, buildings and vehicles

  • Implement intentional safeguards for people being supported

  • Recognise and uphold the right to privacy, dignity and confidentiality of the person being
    supported and their family.

What makes a difference for us?
  • Leadership experience in a similar role and relevant qualifications in the Human Services, Community Services or related industry

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and mentor staff, working within established budget, direction and guidelines

  • Demonstrated experience with internal and external reporting matrix’s and case management experience will be beneficial along with demonstrated experience in appropriately managing emergency or crisis situations

  • A willingness to understand the application of the principles of family or self-governance, personal autonomy, choice and control and intentional safeguarding for our clients

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of driving safety measures and auditing requirements

  • Knowledge of legislation underpinning the provision of services within the disability sector and the key issues affecting quality of life for people with a disability

  • Completed the NDIS worker orientation module “Quality, Safety and you” Capacity to undertake On-Call Responsibilities

  • A current Positive Notice from Disability Services, willingness to undergo a “Working with Children Check” and a Suitability Card (Blue Card) prior to commencing employment.

  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificates
