Job summary

ACEREZ is seeking a Principal Power System Engineer (Power System Studies) to lead dynamic studies for the Central-West Orana REZ, integrating wind, solar and BESS projects into the planned network and the NEM. The role collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver generator performance assessments, control integration, network studies, and complex power system analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with Power/Control focus.
• 10+ years’ experience in control integration and renewables projects.
• Proven generator connection studies in PSS/E and PSCAD.
• Understanding of NER application to generation connections.
• Experience with Python automation for PSS/E/PSCAD.
• Knowledge of NEM studies in PSS/E, and stability concepts.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and assess dynamic generator/synchronous models in PSS/E or PSCAD.
• Run power system studies, analyse and document results.
• Fault find and solve issues in network models and software.
• Prepare technical reports as required.
• Assess generators to meet performance standards.
• Tune control systems for inverter-based and synchronous machines.
• Understand generator performance standards and assessment methods.
• Know power system stability characteristics and study them.
• Conduct system performance analysis and simulations using PSS/E and PSCAD.
• Produce high-quality technical reports and collaborate with the engineering team.
