Job summary

News Corp Australia is seeking a Producer for The Australian’s flagship daily podcast The Front, working with host Claire Harvey and editors to bring journalism to life in video and audio. The role is based in the newsroom in NSW with some work-from-home days and requires evening/weekend shifts.

You will pitch topics, coordinate interviews, record and edit content, ensure legal soundness, and collaborate across teams to publish episodes and analyse cross-platform performance.

Qualifications

• Deep journalism experience with strong understanding of Australian and international news, combining news judgment and storytelling flair with speed in breaking news.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, total reliability, good humor, high ethical standards, and an innovative problem-solving mindset.
• Understanding of legal compliance, including defamation, contempt, and privacy laws, with experience in vetting content for accuracy and legality.
• Technical proficiency in audio/video recording (in-studio and remote), video editing, Descript, Pro Tools, Premiere Pro, and short vertical social clips.
• Ability to write and script-edit interviews, voiceovers, and links, and to adapt to new technologies and deadlines.
• Experience in monitoring, analysing, and reporting cross-platform analytics, metrics, and metadata to improve performance.

Responsibilities

• Attend daily news conferences and pitch topics for each episode.
• Schedule interviews, manage recording and filming for studio and remote guests, and upload files.
• Edit longform video and audio, short social clips, and promotional scripts.
• Collaborate with Editorial Director, senior editors, and legal teams to ensure sound content.
• Partner with social, publishing, marketing, and commercial teams to publish episodes and interpret analytics.
• Assist with workflow planning, team management, and staff rostering.
