Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) seeks a seasoned Lead Operations Manager for Environmental Services to drive operations and sustainability across metropolitan facilities. You will oversee facilities management, maintenance programs and carbon management, ensuring compliance and high-quality patient care while delivering cost-effective services.

Reporting to the Director Infrastructure Services, you will lead a multidisciplinary team, manage contracts, and advance SALHN's

  • Strong governance and regulatory compliance understanding.

Lead environmental services operations and sustainability initiatives across Southern Adelaide Local Health Network's metropolitan facilities. Drive meaningful change through strategic environmental management, waste reduction programmes, and sustainable healthcare practices. Make a lasting impact on both patient care quality and environmental outcomes in South Australia's largest health network.

About the role:

Reporting to the Director, this role is responsible for supporting operational planning, leading oversight and evaluation of facilities management, maintenance services, and delivery of sustainability programs across SALHN for Environmental Services, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, Australian Standards and relevant regulations.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Ensure the delivery of high quality and safe care consistent with the SALHN Integrated Governance Framework and Consumer Engagement Framework and Plan,
  • Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of critical facilities management and maintenance programs, functions and services for SALHN sites ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, Australian Standards and relevant regulations,
  • Manage and support the delivery of the strategic planning and implementation of the SALHN Sustainable targets by identifying current and future needs, evaluating complex information and determining key priorities and deliverables,
  • Support the development, implementation and evaluation of SA Health’s Carbon Management Plan, including collaborating with key stakeholders across SA Health to identify and address related issues and risks associated with ongoing governance, monitoring and reporting,
  • Lead, direct and guide a high performing team to deliver critical and complex programs, projects and facilities management functions and services, enhancing support to SALHN,
  • Lead the planning and delivery of cost-effective preventative and breakdown maintenance programs and services, including maintenance operations, minor works, and energy management,
  • Manage, oversee and report on maintenance contracts, procurement processes and contractual agreements to ensure services are performed and delivered to contract specifications and timelines

About you:

  • A degree in one of the following fields is most relevant:
    - Facilities Management
    - Building Services / Building Management
    - Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Environmental)
    - Environmental Science or Sustainability
    - Property / Asset Management
    - Business or Public Administration (with facilities or sustainability orientation)
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a significant capacity to advise on and present complex concepts clearly and concisely to management, staff, stakeholders and clients at all levels to negotiate successful outcomes,
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex information and systems and to apply creativity and original thinking to problem solve complex issues in a timely and resourceful manner, including determining appropriate methodologies and standards,
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team, under broad policy guidelines, exercise significant levels of independent judgement and delegated authority to determine goals and priorities within the framework of the corporate objectives of the agency and ensure that the required standards of service and quality are met within tight timeframes,
  • Extensive experience in strategically leading and managing state-wide Operations management and maintenance projects, programs and services, in compliance with legislative requirements, Australian Standards and relevant regulations. [within an Across Government Facilities Management Arrangements (AGFMA) would be an advantage – but not mandatory],
  • Significant experience in leading, motivating and managing a high performing, multidisciplinary team, and related reso urces and budgets, in the delivery of responsive and customer centric facilities management services, programs and initiatives
