Job summary

Glencore invites a Principal Mining Engineer to lead open cut mining activities for the Black Star Open Cut Project, spanning feasibility through to operations, with initial Brisbane placement and a FIFO move to Mount Isa.

You will develop mine designs, production schedules and waste plans, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Geology, Processing and Environment teams to deliver a safe, value-driven project.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in open cut mining, mine planning, mine design, production engineering or project development.
• Experience delivering mining projects from feasibility through execution and operation.
• Strong ability to balance technical excellence with operational outcomes.
• Knowledge of mining cost estimation and project economics.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for open cut mining across feasibility, execution, ramp-up and transition to operations.
• Develop safe, value-optimised mine designs and production schedules.
• Lead mining inputs into feasibility studies, cost estimates and financial models.
• Integrate geological, geotechnical, metallurgical and environmental requirements into mine planning.
• Mentor and develop mining engineers and planners.
• Build strong relationships with project, operations and functional teams.
• Ensure safety and governance actions are completed.
