Job summary

Stellar Recruitment AU and NZ – Wellington NSW is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex mechanical engineering projects in Wellington. You will report to the Regional Manager and drive delivery across fabrication, installation, and construction, coordinating engineers, subcontractors, and site teams.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering qualification and a minimum of 5 years in project management within an engineering environment, with strong leadership and contract

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent trade background.
• Minimum 5 years’ project management experience in an engineering environment.
• Strong commercial and contract management skills.
• Experience with shutdowns, capital projects, or industrial installations.
• Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Managing mechanical engineering, fabrication, maintenance, and construction projects.
• Developing project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and delivery strategies.
• Leading multidisciplinary project teams, including site personnel, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Monitoring project performance, cost control, forecasting, and risk management.
• Managing client relationships and stakeholder expectations.
• Administering contracts, variations, and commercial outcomes.
• Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to specification.
• Providing regular project reporting to senior leadership.
• Supporting and mentoring engineers and project team members.
• Identifying opportunities for additional works and long-term client partnerships.
