Job summary

Motion Engineering & Services is seeking a hands-on Workshop Leading Hand to steer daily maintenance activities, oversee a workshop team and ensure safe, efficient repairs of pumps, mixers and rotating equipment. The role involves coordinating labour, materials and priorities, while maintaining high safety and quality standards across customer sites as required.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance or workshop environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a team in a workshop or maintenance setting.
• Strong knowledge of pumps, mechanical seals and rotating equipment.
• Experience with overhauls, bearing replacements, shaft alignment and fault-finding.
• Understanding of maintenance planning, job scheduling, labour allocation and materials management.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office and CMMS.
• Commitment to safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Clear communication and collaboration with internal teams and customers.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the workshop team in completing fitting, maintenance and repair activities.
• Allocate and coordinate labour, materials and daily job priorities to minimise delays and costs.
• Supervise planned, unplanned and emerging maintenance work.
• Perform hands-on mechanical fitting duties, including inspections, fault-finding, repairs and overhauls.
• Support repairs to pumps, mixers, bearings, mechanical seals and other rotating equipment.
• Ensure accurate job scoping, estimates, timeframes and maintenance documentation.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Assist with team rostering, workflow planning and development of workshop personnel.
