Job summary

Weir Minerals Townsville is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to repair and maintain pumps and equipment delivered to the Service Centre and customer sites. The role offers a family-friendly Monday to Friday roster with early start times and overtime when required.

You will bring a Cert III in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting & Turning, hands-on workshop and onsite experience, and proven leadership of fitters.

Qualifications

• Cert III – Mechanical Engineering/Fitting & Turning.
• Experience fitting in workshop and onsite environments.
• Experience leading and mentoring a team of fitters.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High risk forklift ticket is required.
• Overhead crane and doggers tickets are a plus.
• Must have a current driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Safety First: maintain zero-harm behaviours.
• Strip, maintain, repair and report on customer pumps at Service Centre and on customer sites.
• Provide recommendations to enhance product performance and workshop processes.
• Support implementation of Weir Production System in the Rebuild Centre.
• Assist mine shutdowns by attending customer sites when required.
