Job summary

Cement Australia is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Gladstone site’s Operations team. You will oversee day-to-day performance, breakdown management, and long-term asset planning across a 1.7 million tonne clinker kiln, lime kiln, and cement mills, with backup at the East End limestone mine.

With a Mechanical Engineering degree and 5+ years in asset/maintenance management, you will apply SAP and MS Office, lead maintenance planning, review work orders, and champion safety

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years’ experience in asset and maintenance management within heavy industry or cement manufacturing.
• Proven ability to respond to and manage complex breakdowns.
• Strong communication and people skills.
• Proficiency in SAP and MS Office.
• A practical, solutions-focused approach to plant troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse daily plant performance and report findings.
• Manage breakdowns end to end from recovery plan development through to commissioning and close-out reporting.
• Develop and review scopes of work and provide direction to maintenance teams.
• Review work orders and direct planners on priorities and execution.
• Apply condition monitoring to identify failing or at‑risk equipment before it becomes a problem.
• Maintain mechanical asset life plans and task lists.
• Identify and report mechanical risks to support reliability and availability targets.
• Support capital projects with engineering input.
• Develop and review maintenance methods and inspection/test plans.
• Contribute to safety culture through toolbox talks and risk assessments.
