Job summary

Cement Australia Pty Limited in Gladstone is seeking an experienced Electrician to maintain and run electrical systems across our large cement plant, reporting to the Electrical Team Leader. You’ll handle breakdowns and collaborate with Production and Engineering teams to ensure continuous operations.

The role requires a QLD Electrical Licence, CPR/LVR, and experience with PLC/VSDs; high-risk licences and SAP-like systems are desirable.

Qualifications

• Valid QLD Electrical Licence and High Risk Licence.
• Current CPR/LVR certification.
• Proven electrical maintenance experience in heavy industrial environments.
• Experience with PLC control systems and variable speed drives (VSDs).

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, and run electrical systems across the site.
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns with strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Participate in toolbox talks and pre-start risk assessments.
• Work independently and with a high-performing team.
• Uphold OH&S standards and site safety procedures.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrician to join our team in Gladstone. Australia’s largest cement plant, the major assets include a 1.7 million tonne per year capacity clinker kiln, a lime kiln, two cement mills and significant material handling equipment including stacking, reclaiming, product packaging, road and rail dispatch and bulk ship-loading.

Reporting to the Electrical Team Leader, you will be responsible for maintaining and running electrical systems in the plant, attending to any site breakdowns whilst working alongside members of our Production and Engineering Teams.

In this roleyou will:

• Maintain, repair, and run electrical systems across the site
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, demonstrating strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Participate actively in toolbox talks and pre-start risk assessments
• Work both independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team
• Uphold OHS standards and site safety procedures at all times

Roster

• This is a day shift position; the working hours are 6:30am – 3:30pm on a 9-day fortnight.
• Please note: the 9-day fortnight does not apply during annual shutdowns, and flexibility to work additional hours during these periods is essential.

What You’ll Bring

• QLD Electrical Licence
• HV Switching
• Proven electrical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment
• Current CPR / LVR
• High risk and hazardous work licence
• Demonstrated experience with PLC control systems and variable speed drives (VSDs)
• Experience with SAP or similar maintenance systems
• Certificate III in Instrumentation (highly regarded)
• Refrigeration or HVAC experience (highly regarded)
