Lead HV Substation Engineer — Technical Authority

Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Substation Engineer to lead technical project teams on national energy sector projects. You will deliver concept through detailed design, mentor younger engineers, and provide technical guidance to clients and stakeholders.

A tertiary electrical/power engineering degree with chartered status and RPEQ is preferred. The role requires extensive HV/EHV substation experience, earthing, bonding, and power system studies, with proficiency in ETAP, PSCAD/EMTP and CDEGS.

Qualifications

• 12-15 years’ experience as substation engineer, with at least 5 years recent experience as a recognised technical authority for HV and EHV substation primary, earthing and bonding design
• Tertiary qualification in electrical/power engineering, preferably chartered engineering and RPEQ status
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills including a working knowledge of MS Office
• Highly regarded skills include: design consultancy experience; ability to lead design teams; earthing/induction modelling in CDEGS; HV substation design; protection system design; ETAP/PSCAD/EMTP modelling; EMC management plans; maintenance strategies and commissioning documentation

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver complex designs, reports, proposals and presentations for transmission and distribution substations
• Lead design teams and mentor junior engineers
• Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure design integrity
• Provide technical overview to clients and stakeholders and offer alternative solutions
• Liaise with Project Manager and clients to track project developments
