Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment – Melbourne VIC is recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead secondary systems design for HV and renewable energy projects. You will develop protection schemes, review schematics, and ensure design alignment across the project team.

The role balances hands-on design with client interaction and project input, suitable for engineers who enjoy both detail and big-picture thinking in the energy sector.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in secondary systems design for HV & EHV Substations.
• Expertise in protection relays, control systems, and SCADA.
• Strong knowledge of AS/NZS 61850 and HV standards.
• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
• CPEng (or working towards) and EA membership preferred.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of protection and secondary systems design packages.
• Develop and review schematics, logic diagrams, and functional specs.
• Coordinate with primary, civil, and drafting teams to ensure design alignment.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, QA, and client expectations.
• Support project delivery from early design through testing and commissioning.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, OEMs, and utilities as needed.
