Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Lead High Voltage Substation Design Engineer in Brisbane to support major mining and industrial projects. You will work within our Electrical, Instruments & Controls Team to design HV/LV power, controls and instrumentation systems, and drive technical excellence across the project lifecycle.

You will engage with clients, manage design deliverables, and mentor junior engineers while leveraging our global resources and industry-leading capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering with minimum 2 years' experience in industrial/mining power systems.
• Experience designing HV/LV distribution, controls, instrumentation and safety systems.
• Experience producing engineering drawings, specifications, datasheets and material requisitions.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and their application in compliant designs.

• Lead HV substation design for industrial/mining projects in a consulting environment.
• Collaborate with clients and manage project delivery, including potential mentoring of junior engineers.
• Champion technical excellence and provide guidance on standards and best practices.

Lead High Voltage Substation Design Engineer – Brisbane

As a result of a significant project pipeline, our Electrical, Instruments & Controls Team based in our Resources and Industry Group in Brisbane has an opportunity for Professional and Senior Engineers to support our growth.

Working in a dynamic, consulting environment on major mining, heavy industry and resources projects, you will utilise your electrical systems experience including HV, LV, instrumentation, controls and communications, vendor package integration, to drive the continued development of our team.

As an Electrical Engineer you will champion technical excellence and grow your experience under the mentorship of our experienced team members. Client liaison and project management opportunities will be provided on your career path, working for an international consultancy!

How you’ll make a difference

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering with minimum 2 years' experience designing industrial and mining power, electrical, instrument and control systems
• Demonstrated experience in the design and specification of systems such as HV/LV distribution, controls and communications and safety systems, preferably in industrial and mining space
• Experience in producing engineering documentation such as technical drawings and specifications, datasheets, scope of works and material requisitions
• Possess current knowledge of the relevant industry standards and the application in compliant designs
• You will be someone who is looking to achieve outstanding results and most importantly, be someone that enjoys sharing knowledge, supporting ideas, and encouraging others to develop their skills and experience
