Job summary

Mitchell Shire Council in Victoria, Australia invites applications for a permanent full-time Lines and Signs Leading Hand in the Roads Maintenance team. You will operate the Lines and Signs truck and a range of heavy plant, directing a small crew in signage installation, urban drainage maintenance and road construction activities.

Working with the Roads Maintenance Team Leader, you will train staff, help plan maintenance programs and ensure safety, compliance and accurate electronic records.

Qualifications

• Current certification and hands-on experience operating heavy plant — including trucks, excavator, backhoe, skid steer, and loaders — as well as small tools such as grinders, chainsaws, concrete grinders, and demo saws.
• Experience coordinating and leading a small field crew with safety and service delivery in mind.
• Ability to prepare accurate resource estimates covering labour, plant, materials and time.
• Competence maintaining electronic records for OH&S, QA and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Council's Lines and Signs truck and a broad range of heavy plant and equipment.
• Direct and train crew across signage installation, urban drainage maintenance and road construction activities.
• Contribute to daily and annual maintenance planning and prioritise reactive works.
• Maintain electronic records and ensure compliance with OH&S, QA and environmental standards.
