Job Description
Be part of Victoria's last great story of growth
Mitchell Shire is where the city meets the country. Located just 40 minutes north of Melbourne, we're home to thriving townships, beautiful natural landscapes and some of Australia's fastest-growing communities.
With a current population of more than 64,000 residents and forecast growth to over 220,000 by 2046, there has never been a more exciting time to join Mitchell Shire Council. As we continue to grow, so do the opportunities to make a genuine difference to our community and help shape the future of one of Victoria's most dynamic municipalities.
At Mitchell Shire Council, you'll be part of a progressive, inclusive and supportive organisation that values collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. Together, we work as One Mitchell, guided by our values of Trusted, Engaged and Innovative.
Reporting to the Team Leader of Roads Maintenance, you'll be a key contributor within Mitchell Shire Council's Roads Maintenance works team, bringing specialist plant operating skills that complement and strengthen the delivery of high-quality road maintenance activities. Your responsibilities will include:
You’ll also assist other teams across the business as directed, making this a varied, hands‑on role at the heart of how Mitchell Shire maintains and improves its road network.
This is a permanent, full‑time opportunity with a fortnightly RDO. Remuneration begins at $78.3K to $81.8K (Band 4) plus superannuation.
We're looking for someone who combines strong hands‑on plant operating skills with a natural ability to guide and motivate those around them — someone who leads by example and takes ownership of both the work and the team's wellbeing. You'll be a reliable communicator who takes pride in delivering quality outcomes for the Mitchell Shire community, and who brings a disciplined, safety‑first approach to every task on the ground.
