BILDGroup is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our Urban Civil Construction team in Mackay, QLD. You’ll lead a crew across earthworks, drainage, pavements and site works, setting safety, quality and productivity standards on every shift.

This hands-on role puts you in the trench with your team, solving problems, directing daily work, and delivering reliable outcomes. If you’re proven, motivated, and committed to mentoring others, we want to hear from you.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Leading Hand role on civil construction sites.
• Hands-on technical capability across earthworks, drainage, pavements, or sports field construction.
• Strong safety leadership and a commitment to high standards.
• Effective crew management and development of less experienced workers.
• Ability to read site instructions and relay plans clearly.
• Hold White Card before start.
• Valid drivers licence and ability to move between Mackay sites.
• Locally based or willing to relocate permanently.
• Experience in sports field or civil construction.
• Traffic management accreditation and plant tickets.
• First Aid certificate.
• Experience coaching and developing crew members.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the on-site crew across civil works to achieve safe, quality outcomes.
• Direct daily activities, solve problems on site, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Set and reinforce safety, productivity, and quality standards on every shift.
• Coach and develop less experienced crew members to build capability.
• Read and communicate site instructions and work plans to the team.
