Job summary

Forensicare, Victoria's statewide forensic mental health service, is seeking experienced Consultant Psychiatrists to join during a major service expansion. The role involves providing specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment, and leading multidisciplinary teams across hospital, prison and community settings.

The position offers opportunities to influence new services, shape contemporary models of care, supervise Registrars and Junior Medical Staff, and contribute to education, research

Qualifications

• Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (FRANZCP)
• Experience in general adult, forensic, acute or secure psychiatry
• Demonstrated clinical leadership experience
• Confidence with risk assessment and relevant mental health/forensic legislation
• Commitment to recovery-oriented and patient-centered care
• Interest in teaching, supervision and service development

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment.
• Deliver forensic mental health advice and leadership.
• Support multidisciplinary teams in the management of complex consumers.
• Supervise Registrars and Junior Medical Staff.
• Contribute to service development, education and training.
• Participate in quality, research and improvement initiatives
