Forensicare in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a major service expansion in forensic mental health. You will provide expert psychiatric assessment and leadership across inpatient, court and community settings, guiding multidisciplinary teams in the care of complex patients.

The role emphasizes education, research and service development, with opportunities to contribute to quality initiatives and training for registrars and junior medical staff.

Qualifications

• Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (FRANZCP).
• Experience in general adult, forensic, acute or secure psychiatry.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership experience.
• Confidence in risk assessment and relevant legislation.
• Commitment to recovery‑oriented, patient‑centred care.
• Interest in teaching, supervision and service development.

The Role

What We're Looking For

We’re interested in hearing from Consultant Psychiatrists who have:

• Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (FRANZCP)
• Experience in general adult, forensic, acute or secure psychiatry
• Demonstrated clinical leadership experience
• Confidence working with risk assessment and relevant mental health/forensic legislation
• A commitment to recovery-oriented and patient-centred care
• An interest in teaching, supervision and service development

Formal forensic psychiatry experience is highly regarded but not essential.
