Job summary

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service seeks a Senior Field Officer to lead a field-based team across Perisher Valley and surrounding alpine destinations. This full-time leadership role delivers essential environmental programs and municipal services in a challenging alpine environment.

Qualifications

• Must comply with statutory obligations for natural, Aboriginal and cultural heritage protection and resources.
• Experience in maintenance/construction of facilities and grounds; operate safely under WH&S requirements.
• Experience in planning field and operational activities, including pest and fire management.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills; proficient with financial and asset management systems.
• Relevant WorkCover certification and ability to operate machinery and equipment.
• Valid Australian C class or MR driver's licence; ability to drive 4WDs; Senior First Aid certificate.
• Certification and ability to operate a chainsaw up to cross-cut level; radio operation experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a field team delivering environmental programs across Perisher Valley and surrounds.
• Oversee infrastructure maintenance, pest/weed management, and revegetation projects.
• Coordinate waste management, snow clearing, road/oversnow route upkeep and pest control.
• Engage with stakeholders and respond to operational issues to keep the area running.
• Lead from the front in an active field-based role and develop team capabilities.
