Qualifications

• Certificate II in Horticulture or Conservation and Land Management or relevant work experience.
• At least 2 years experience in weed control and the use of spray equipment.
• Chemical spraying certificate (Agvet, Chemcert or ACUP).
• Construction Industry White Card.
• Current manual drivers licence and own car.
• Ability to identify indigenous and exotic flora species.
• Excellent understanding of OH&S principles.
• Ability to liaise and communicate effectively with staff and clients.
• Ability to successfully work in a team environment.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to self-motivate.

Responsibilities

• Weed control through manual and chemical application.
• Pest animal control including rabbits and foxes.
• Operation of boom equipment.
• Repair and maintenance of spray equipment.
• Hand weeding, mulching and brushcutting.
• Plant installation and associated activities.
• Completion of daily work records, chemical records and related project paperwork.

About the role

We are looking for a Leading Hand with experience within the industry to assist with the implementation and coordination of projects.

The successful applicant will join a small professional team, and needs to be able to work with a level of autonomy whilst receiving minimal supervision.

You must be a leader, adaptable and self-motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills. You will have strong technical knowledge of local Melbourne flora, along with a desire to learn and an extremely high level of safety awareness.

A good level of physical fitness is essential as this position involves many aspects of manual handling.

• Demonstrated experience in the operation of chainsaws, mowers, brushcutters, knapsacks, spray rig
• Experience using boom equipment
• Experience in the repair and maintenance of spray equipment
