Job summary

GE Vernova in Australia is seeking a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer to drive delivery of complex power conversion projects and oversee interface between stakeholders and engineering teams. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering (or Diploma with relevant experience)
• 7–10 years’ experience in Project Engineering within rail, power, utilities, or energy sectors
• Ability to read, write, and review technical specifications and engineering documentation
• Experience with systems engineering and assurance activities (e.g., Safety in Design, HAZOP, RAM, FMECA, Human Factors) would be advantageous
• Experience interpreting power system studies and design outputs (SLDs, protection coordination, load flow, fault studies, EMC) advantageous

Responsibilities

• Lead the project engineering workstream, managing technical risks and resolving bottlenecks
• Manage project scope, schedule, and budget to align with milestones
• Coordinate resource allocation and progress reporting across engineering, procurement, and site teams
• Develop and review electrical designs and documentation (generators, transformers, switchboards, converters, motors, energy storage, cabling)
• Ensure outputs comply with health, safety, regulatory, and industry standards
• Act as technical focal point coordinating with internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors
• Review and approve technical documentation in line with contractual requirements
• Provide technical input to planning, delivery and customer solutions
• Support tendering and sales with engineering expertise
• Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
• Contribute to engineering tools, processes and systems improvements
