Job summary

EML in Sydney, NSW, Australia, is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer for a permanent on-site role. You will lead the DevOps team, drive robust CI/CD pipelines, and design scalable infrastructure across AWS, Azure and on‑premise environments.

The ideal candidate will ensure security, reliability and performance, mentoring engineers and collaborating with AI, infrastructure and security teams to meet compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Full Australian working rights.
• 7+ years IT experience, including 5 years in DevOps, site reliability engineering or cloud infrastructure, and 3 years leading a technical team.
• Strong hands-on expertise across AWS and Azure, Terraform, Ansible, Linux and scripting, with experience managing containerised apps using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Solid experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools, applying GitOps and progressive delivery practices.
• Security-focused approach, cloud security frameworks, risk management and disaster recovery, and accountability for secure delivery.
• Strong communication, troubleshooting and prioritisation skills, able to coach others and engage stakeholders.
• Basic AI or LLM knowledge expected, with practical application in pipelines or operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the DevOps team, setting standards and coaching capability.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable releases across cloud and on‑prem environments.
• Design and manage infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible for scalability and cost efficiency across AWS/Azure.
• Manage Kubernetes environments and containerized apps ensuring availability and security.
• Strengthen monitoring, observability and incident response to proactively resolve issues.
• Collaborate with AI, infrastructure and security teams to embed security into delivery workflows.
