Job summary

TheDriveGroup in Sydney, Australia is seeking a senior Lead Cloud & DevOps Engineer to own the architecture of our cloud and data platforms. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on setting infrastructure roadmaps and building durable solutions rather than recycling off-the-shelf designs.

You will mentor an engineer initially and have scope to grow a Cloud/DevOps team as the business scales, with emphasis on GPU compute, data platforms and multi-region migrations.

Are you a senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer who wants to own the architecture rather than just implement someone else's designs?

I'm working with a growing technology scale-up looking for a Lead Cloud & DevOps Engineer to take ownership of its cloud and infrastructure environment.

This is a genuinely hands-on technical leadership role.

You'll be responsible for setting the infrastructure roadmap, designing the architecture and then actually building it. They don't want someone who automatically reaches for an off-the-shelf solution. They want someone who can assess the problem, think ahead and recommend the right approach.

A particularly interesting part of the role is the data infrastructure.

You'll be working with:

• GCP, with Azure on the roadmap
• Security, resilience & data sovereignty

They're looking for someone who is methodical and proactive. Someone who can look beyond what needs fixing today, anticipate what the platform will need in 6-12 months and build a plan to get there.

You'll also initially mentor an existing engineer, with genuine scope to build a Cloud/DevOps team around you as the business scales.

The ideal background?

Someone who has come from Infrastructure / Systems Engineering, moved deeply into Cloud and DevOps, and is now ready to step into a Lead position without moving away from the technology

Experience with GPU compute, data platforms, multi-region infrastructure or complex cloud migrations would be a huge bonus.
