Job summary

Colonial First State in Sydney is seeking a Lead Engineer to design, implement and maintain our data platform infrastructure, enabling scalable, high-performance data processing across the organisation. You will drive technical strategy for data engineering, ensure security and reliability, contribute production-grade code, and mentor teams through reviews and guidance.

This senior role requires strong cloud experience with Databricks, Fabric, Terraform and Azure, plus CI/CD pipelines and data

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a data engineer with scalable, secure data platforms.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-based data engineering and modern data architectures.
• Hands-on expertise with Databricks, Fabric, Terraform, and Azure IaC.
• Data capabilities: ETL development, data warehouse modelling, data governance and management.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CFS's data platform infrastructure.
• Provide technical strategy to enhance data engineering capabilities.
• Produce production-quality code artefacts and ensure quality.
• Ensure high availability, performance and security of data environments.
• Provide technical guidance via code reviews and training.
• Collaborate with project teams to review code changes and align with standards.
• Deliver documentation, unit tests, and acceptance targets.
• Maintain security of data in the data lakehouse and access controls.
• Understand data requirements and ensure the warehouse meets needs.
