Job summary

Commonwealth Bank in Sydney is seeking a hands-on Lead Data Engineer to drive data engineering for Transaction Monitoring and broader financial crime initiatives. You will lead a small team of 3–4 engineers, write and review production code and set engineering standards.

You will work with Snowflake, dbt, IBM StreamSets and related technologies across cloud and on-prem patterns, translating complex requirements into reliable, scalable data solutions while mentoring engineers and ensuring

Qualifications

Strong hands-on data engineering experience building production-grade data pipelines.
Advanced SQL and data platform experience.
Ability to lead and coach a small engineering team.

Responsibilities

Act as a senior hands-on engineer: design, build, test, deploy and support data solutions.
Lead and line-manage a team of 3–4 data engineers, analysts and QAs with technical direction and development feedback.
Lead delivery of ASB data engineering initiatives while contributing to codebase and implementation.
Design, build and optimize production-grade data pipelines and integrations.
Write and review high-quality SQL and dbt code and ensure engineering standards are applied.
Review team code and provide constructive technical feedback; drive deployment and monitoring standards.
