Job summary

Laing O’Rourke is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, to design and implement scalable cloud-based data pipelines. You’ll deliver data products for reporting, analytics and AI, collaborating with architects, stakeholders and tech teams to translate requirements into robust data solutions.

You will contribute to governance, quality, performance, and security, while mentoring teammates and evolving our data platform in a business-critical environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer with SQL, data modelling and ETL/ELT development.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks and Spark on cloud data platforms.
• Strong collaboration with stakeholders to translate requirements into data solutions.
• Good understanding of data governance, quality, performance optimisation and scalable architecture.
• Interest in AI and emerging technologies with a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and optimisation of scalable cloud-based data solutions and pipelines.
• Deliver data products for reporting, analytics, AI and data-driven decision making.
