Job summary

Alt.vfx in Brisbane is seeking a Lead/Senior 3D Animator to join our creature team on an ongoing, full-time basis. This role requires a strong background in character and creature animation, with expert Maya skills and a collaborative, mentor-focused mindset.

You will deliver high-quality keyframe work and MoCap workflows, work with creatives and supervisors to ensure cohesive look, and help guide junior artists while maintaining delivery timelines.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of character and creature animation experience for commercials, VFX films and TV.
• Expert level Maya proficiency.
• Ability to deliver shot-specific animation including body mechanics, facial, and camera animation.
• Strong teamwork and mentoring capabilities; able to lead by example.
• Previs and motion capture experience a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver consistent and high-quality keyframe animation and MoCap data.
• Collaborate with creatives, supervisors and leads to shape the approach for look and continuity.
• Mentor and assist junior team members in-house and freelance.
• Maintain shot quotas and flag any delivery risks to Leads and Supervisors.
• Define character personality through motion and storytelling.
