Job summary

HorizonOne Recruitment is seeking a Contracts Manager to lead the commercial and contract administration for a major Canberra project, reporting to the Commercial Manager and working with the Project and Site Managers.

With 7-10+ years in construction contracts and a track record with Tier 1–3 builders, you will own procurement strategy, contract administration, and commercial risk, guiding a dedicated contracts team on a $50–$300 million+ build.

Qualifications

• >7-10+ years’ experience as a Senior Contract Administrator (or equivalent) in construction.
• >Commercial experience with Tier 1, 2 or 3 contractor on projects $50m to $300m+
• >Background in commercial high-rise residential, education, health, hospitals or data centre construction is desirable
• >Advanced knowledge of contract law principles and relevant construction legislation
• >Experience leading a project administration or commercial team, with direct reports
• >Relevant degree in construction management, engineering, project management, building or construction (or equivalent) experience

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial and contract administration for the project, working with Project and Site Managers while directing the contracts team.
• Direct commercial and financial risk analysis, control and reporting including monthly reviews.
• Review head contract docs and subcontract tenders, identify risks and opportunities.
• Vet and administer contractual documents, maintain back-to-back conditions between head contract and subcontracts.
• Develop and implement procurement strategy and manage subcontractor procurement.
• Manage progress claims, variations and Extension of Time for client and subcontractors.
• Lead resolution of disputes and project finalisation including defects and close-out docs.
• Mentor Contract Administrators and Cadets, oversee wider commercial team performance.
• Prepare and present monthly commercial/financial reports to management.
