Job summary

Built is seeking a Senior Computational Designer in Sydney to lead development of the Built Living Configurator, translating the Kit of Parts into automated, code-compliant configurations for buildable housing. You will advance the platform from configurator build to live project use, driving repeatable, scalable design workflows.

Ideal candidates combine advanced parametric design with strong coding skills (Python, C#, APIs) and experience with configurators and BIM workflows to deliver robust,

Qualifications

• Advanced Grasshopper and Rhino capability with computational design background.
• Proficiency in Python, C#, APIs or software development for design automation.
• Experience building configurators or automated design pipelines.
• Ability to translate planning, compliance and product rules into automated logic.
• Understanding of housing typologies, layouts, yield and buildable design outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of the Built Living Configurator.
• Translate Kit of Parts and product rules into automated, repeatable configurations.
• Configure and test core building typologies including code overlays.
• Develop and maintain codebase, rules engines and parametric logic.
• Build scripts, tools and workflows that automate modelling, checking and option generation.
• Embed planning, compliance and product constraints so outputs are compliant by design.
• Integrate governed BIM content and feed learnings back into the platform.
• Document code, logic and assumptions for maintainability.
