Western Kids Health in Perth is seeking a Lead Clinical Psychologist to oversee the psychology service across two clinics. You will maintain a paediatric caseload while guiding a multidisciplinary team and sitting on the leadership group with discipline leads.
The role combines high-level clinical practice with people leadership, ensuring wellbeing and performance of the psychology team within a family-centred, MDT environment.
Western Kids Health, Shenton Park and Hillarys, Perth WA.
Permanent, part time (minimum 0.6-0.7FTE)through to full time. Start Q12027, or sooner by agreement.
Western Kids Health is a multidisciplinary paediatric allied health practice in Perth, founded in 2018. Our physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists and dietitians work side by side across two clinics, Victoria House in Shenton Park and our Hillarys clinic, supporting children and families from the early years through to adolescence.
Our services are organised into clinics: Early Intervention, Mental Health, Gender Diversity, Feeding and ARFID, School Aged Services and Complex Care. Within each, our team works as a true MDT, including joint appointments where clinicians from different disciplines see a child and family together in the same session.
Our model of care is family centred, strengths based and attachment informed, within a family systems framework. We see parents as the experts in their own child and we work alongside them. The same approach shapes how we lead our team.
Beyond the clinic room, our team runs group programs, delivers professional development on emotional regulation and mental health for schools and other services, and provides outreach. Western Kids Health works closely with not-for-profits including Tiny Sparks WA, Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA and PlaygroupWA, and holds a Commonwealth contract for allied health outreach to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Our psychology service is involved in all of this work.
The Lead Clinical Psychologist is the senior clinical and people leader for psychology at Western Kids Health. You will hold your own paediatric caseload, lead and supervise a team of clinical, general and provisional psychologists, and sit on the WKH leadership team alongside our Discipline Leads for physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech pathology. The role reports to the Managing Director.
This is a role for someone who enjoys both sides of the work: the clinical craft of supporting children and families, and the people leadership that helps a team of psychologists do their best work and stay well while they do it.
Leadership time is built into the roster rather than squeezed around a full caseload. At full time (38 hours) around 20hours a week is booked clinical time and a dedicated 7.6 hour day for protected for leadership, supervision and team work.
We ask for a minimum of four days, however this is negotiable for the right candidate, so you have real presence with your team for supervision, leadership meetings and the day to day support a psychology team needs. Within that, we are open to talking about which days and what FTE works for you.
