Job summary

Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Adelaide seeks a driven leader to head the Clinical HTA team, overseeing clinical evaluation, evidence synthesis and health economics input. You will guide technical strategy, manage delivery, and ensure client satisfaction across government and external funders.

You will build capability, lead coaching and performance, and collaborate with senior colleagues to advance HTA programs and business opportunities in a dynamic health environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in health technology assessment, clinical evaluation or evidence synthesis, with highly developed clinical assessment and critical appraisal skills.
• Experience leading a program of projects, including planning, prioritisation, resource allocation and budget management.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to work confidently with clients, funders, clinicians and other external stakeholders.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing a specialist team.
• Experience contributing to business development, funding submissions or tender responses would be desirable.
• A tertiary qualification, ideally postgraduate, in health, science or a related field is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Clinical HTA team, including workforce planning, resource allocation, coaching and performance management.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight across clinical evaluation, evidence synthesis and critical appraisal work.
• Oversee project delivery, including quality, timelines, budgets, utilisation and resource planning.
• Develop funding submissions and contribute technical and operational input to tenders and project proposals.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, funders, government and other key stakeholders.
• Work closely with the General Manager, Research, Audit & Academic Surgery and Manager, Health Economics HTA to support the team’s work and broader business development opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, project outcomes and client satisfaction.
