Job summary

Endeavour Energy is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to lead asset integrity and maintenance for critical electricity network assets across NSW. You will translate data, field experience and risk modelling into practical maintenance strategies and defensible investment decisions.

You will apply RAMS, FMECA and RCM methodologies to improve reliability and safety, collaborate across portfolios, and mentor engineers while supporting regulatory and stakeholder needs.

Qualifications

• 12+ years' experience in electricity networks, asset management, maintenance or reliability engineering.
• Strong knowledge of distribution network and zone substation assets, failure modes and maintenance requirements.
• Experience applying FMECA, RCM, RAMS and quantitative asset risk modelling.
• Credentials such as CPEng, CAMA/CPAM would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Shape maintenance standards and practices by leading the review and continual improvement of maintenance standards, policies, processes and procedures across designated network asset portfolios.
• Develop risk-based maintenance strategies using FMECA, RCM and RAMS principles to determine economically justified maintenance tasks, intervals and intervention strategies.
• Lead complex asset failure investigations, identifying root causes, contributing factors and recurrence risks and turning findings into practical corrective actions and organisational learnings.
• Develop and enhance asset risk models, including PoF and RAMS inputs covering reliability, safety, financial, bushfire, environmental and vegetation-related risks.
• Provide Principal Engineer-level technical authority, supporting field operations, maintenance, asset engineering and investment teams with evidence-based engineering advice and assurance.
• Support regulatory and investment decisions by developing defensible engineering justifications, cost-benefit assessments and risk-based recommendations across OPEX and CAPEX.
• Connect engineering with operational reality, ensuring maintenance strategies account for asset condition, network context, field constraints, safety and whole-of-life asset performance.
• Work across the organisation with Asset Engineering, Asset Investments, ePMO, Reliability & Resilience, Safety, bushfire, environment, vegetation management, Field Operations and System Operations.
• Lead complex work with autonomy, escalating material strategic, commercial, safety and risk matters while maintaining ownership of technical outcomes.
• Build engineering capability, mentoring junior engineers and supporting strong technical discipline, data quality and continuous improvement.
