Qualifications

• 3+ years post-admission experience in insurance litigation or related field.
• Experience handling defendant liability, CTP, public liability, historical abuse or workers' compensation matters.
• Strong litigation, drafting, negotiation and file management skills.
• Confidence managing matters with appropriate autonomy and good client communication.
• Interest in mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to team growth.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Associate or Senior Associate to join the growing Insurance Litigation practice of a highly regarded national law firm in Canberra.

Working closely with an experienced Partner and a collaborative team of insurance specialists, you will gain exposure to sophisticated litigation matters involving major insurers, self-insured organisations and government clients.

The Role

You will be involved in a diverse range of defendant insurance litigation matters, including:

• Public liability and personal injury claims
• Historical and institutional abuse litigation
• Compulsory Third Party (CTP) claims
• Complex insurance litigation involving government and corporate clients
• Court and tribunal proceedings, including the ACT and NSW Courts, ACAT and Administrative Review Tribunal
• Managing files, developing litigation strategies and negotiating settlements
• Mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to the team's continued growth

The practice offers the opportunity to develop expertise across multiple insurance disciplines while also supporting lawyers who wish to specialise in a particular area.

About You

We are interested in hearing from lawyers who offer:

• 3+ years' post-admission experience, ideally within insurance litigation or personal injury
• Experience in defendant liability, CTP, public liability, historical abuse or workers' compensation matters
• Strong litigation, drafting, negotiation and file management skills
