Job summary

MinterEllison in Sydney is seeking a Lawyer or Associate (1–4 years PQE) to join the Complex Liabilities, Insurance and Regulation team. You will work on insurance compliance advisory matters and manage a caseload of insurance litigation in NSW courts.

The role offers exposure to high-profile mandates for corporates, insurers, and government clients, with opportunities to advocate and brief counsel, while developing strategic legal advice.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years' experience in private practice at a leading firm.
• Strong client focus and ability to build lasting relationships with peers, clients, and the industry.
• Willingness to grow the practice and develop new client relationships.
• Experience appearing as a solicitor advocate, instructing counsel, and attending settlement conferences.

MinterEllison has a leading insurance and complex disputes practice across its Australian offices. We act for corporates, insurers, and government self-insurers (state and federal). We advise on complex insurance and regulatory compliance issues, and we manage complex insurance disputes, both litigated and non-litigated.

The Role

We are looking for a talented Lawyer or Associate (1–4 years PQE) to join our Complex Liabilities, Insurance and Regulation (CLIR) team in our Sydney office. You will work mainly with Partner Kemsley Brennan , Practice Group Leader for the Sydney office.

You will work with the senior legal practitioners in the team on responding to front end advisory issues on insurance compliance together with managing a range of insurance dispute matters. You will manage a caseload of insurance litigation cases in the NSW Magistrates Court and NSW Supreme Court, and help with other civil litigation matters. You will also assist the Partner in developing and providing legal and strategic advice to insurers, private clients, and government clients on insurance and dispute issues.

This role may involve some solicitor advocacy, and briefing and instructing counsel on more complicated matters.
