Job summary

Gilmour Space is seeking an Integration Technician (Launch Operations) in Bowen, North Queensland to assemble and integrate spacecraft hardware. You will work on structural components, ensure proper interfaces with propulsion, avionics and ground systems, and support testing and launch‑readiness activities.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, applying precision assembly techniques, and maintaining build records with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• 3 years relevant hands-on mechanical assembly or structural integration experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical procedures.
• Working understanding of tools, fasteners, torquing, measurement, and inspection.
• NV1 Security Clearance eligible.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Install and integrate structural components, panels, brackets, frames, interstages, fairings, and hardware.
• Perform precision assembly, fastening, torquing, shimming, alignment, and fit-up of flight hardware.
• Ensure components interface with propulsion, avionics, payload, electrical, thermal, and ground‑support systems.
• Use precision measurement equipment to verify dimensions, alignment, and tolerances.
• Conduct visual and dimensional inspections against specifications and procedures.
• Identify defects or deviations and support corrective actions with engineering/quality teams.
• Support structural, pressure, vibration/environmental and propulsion testing and launch-site activities.
• Maintain build records, inspection documentation, and component traceability.
• Set up and operate assembly tooling, lifting equipment, fixtures, torque tools, and measurement devices.
• Follow safety and environmental procedures to minimise impacts.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, test, and operations to resolve issues.
• Support final vehicle integration, payload mating, transport, pad integration, and launch-readiness.
