Eureka Landscapes is seeking a qualified and experienced Landscape Construction and Establishment Specialist to join our Sunshine Coast team in a permanent full-time position.
For more than 45 years, Eureka Landscapes has delivered award-winning commercial landscape construction and maintenance projects throughout South-East Queensland.
The position is primarily based at Caloundra – Aura, although work at other Sunshine Coast or South-East Queensland locations may occasionally be required. Where travel between sites is required, a company vehicle will be provided or approved travel time and costs will be paid.
About the Role
This is a hands-on skilled role that provides the practical link between landscape construction and ongoing maintenance. You will take works from plan interpretation, site preparation and set-out through installation, establishment, rectification and handover.
Your duties will include:
- Preparing and interpreting landscape plans and drawings, selecting suitable materials and plants, confirming measurements and quantities, and planning the work sequence
- Setting out and installing hardscape and softscape works to the required line, level and quality, including gravel and paved areas, edging, walls, fences, trellises, pergolas, ponds, barbecues and garden furniture
- Preparing sites, soil, seedbeds, garden beds and growing areas, including excavation, levelling, drainage, soil improvement and placement of growing media
- Planting trees, shrubs, hedges, flowers, bulbs and other plants, and preparing lawn areas using topsoil, grass seed or instant turf
- Installing and maintaining irrigation components where trained and authorised, and completing required erosion, sediment and environmental controls
- Establishing and maintaining completed landscapes through watering, mowing, edging, mulching, pruning, hedging, fertilising, cultivation and staking
- Monitoring plant, turf and irrigation performance and controlling weeds, pests and plant disease using approved methods where appropriately certified
- Inspecting completed works, rectifying defects and non-conformances, and preparing safe, clean and presentable areas for handover
- Safely operating authorised tools, vehicles, plant and machinery, completing pre-starts and reporting defects promptly
- Following site rules, SWMS, HSEQ and environmental requirements, using required PPE and reporting hazards, incidents and immediate risks
What You Will Need
- Both AHC30921 Certificate III in Landscape Construction (or a superseded equivalent) and AHC31024 Certificate III in Parks and Gardens (or a superseded equivalent). Both qualifications are mandatory and experience cannot substitute for either qualification
- At least one year of relevant on-the-job training and demonstrated commercial landscape construction and establishment experience
- Experience interpreting plans, completing accurate set-out, selecting materials and plants, and completing hardscape, softscape, planting and turf works
- Practical experience delivering landscape establishment, maintenance and rectification through to handover under commercial specifications, programs and quality standards
- Ability to plan work fronts and coordinate labour, plant, materials, access, subcontractors and suppliers
- Current driver licence valid in Queensland and a Construction White Card
- A reliable, punctual and safety-focused approach, with the ability to communicate well, keep accurate records and work effectively as part of a crew
- Ability to safely undertake physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Additional training in irrigation, drainage, soils or landscape establishment, relevant plant or machinery competencies, and ACDC certification are desirable
