Job summary

Corangamite Shire Council is seeking multiple Landfill Plant Operators for the Naroghid site in Victoria. Positions are fixed-term, full-time for up to 6 months to support peak construction season.

Responsibilities include operating compactors, tipper trucks, dozers and excavators, performing routine checks, and ensuring OH&S compliance. Applicants should have plant/machinery certificates and a valid MR licence where possible.

Qualifications

• Certifications of competency for plant and/or Machinery are highly desirable.
• Sound knowledge in operation, safe use and maintenance of plant and equipment per OH&S guidelines.
• Medium MR Driver Licence endorsement is highly desirable and Victorian drivers licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain plant and equipment in a safe, efficient manner.
• Undertake routine machine checks and ensure fluid levels and lubrication.
• Clean machines and maintain the Landfill facility.
• Maintain time sheets and job documentation.
• Collect user fees and perform administrative duties.

Salary:$73,465 - $76,734 per annum, inclusive of industry and maintenance allowances

About the position

We are looking for multiple Plant Operators to assist with the operation, maintenance and upkeep of the Corangamite Regional Landfill (Council’s waste management facility) at Naroghid. This is a 6-month position to support our peak construction season.

Themain responsibilitieswill include:

• Operating and maintaining plant, including compactors, tipper trucks, dozers and excavators, in an efficient and safe manner.
• Undertaking routine machine checks with regard to safe legal operation, fluid levels and lubrication points.
• Cleaning the machine inside and out at regular intervals.
• Maintaining accurate time sheets and work program documentation.
• Collecting user fees and attending to administrative/record keeping duties.
• Cleaning and maintaining the Landfill facility.

About you

• Certificates of competency for plant and/or machinery, with experience operating compactors, tipper trucks, dozers and/or excavators highly desirable.
• Sound working knowledge in the operation, safe use and maintenance of plant and equipment, with the ability to perform manual work in accordance with OH&S guidelines.
• Victorian Driver Licence, Construction Induction Card (white card) and recent National Police Check, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
• Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence endorsement, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement, is highly desirable.
• Basic experience in administration, including the use of computer systems, is highly desirable.
