Job summary

Corangamite Shire is seeking multiple Plant Operators for a fixed-term, full-time role at Naroghid, Victoria. The position runs up to 6 months, supporting the peak construction season and landfill operations.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining plant equipment, performing safety checks, keeping records, and handling administrative tasks. A relevant certification and a valid MR License are desirable.

Qualifications

• Certificate of competency for plant and/or machinery.
• Experience operating compactors, tipper trucks, dozers and/or excavators is desirable.
• Victorian Driver Licence and Construction Induction Card (white card).
• National Police Check or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
• MR Licence endorsement or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain plant and equipment (compactors, trucks, dozers, excavators) safely and efficiently.
• Conduct routine machine checks for safe operation, fluids and lubrication.
• Clean machines inside and out at regular intervals.
• Maintain accurate time sheets and work program documentation.
• Attend to administrative duties and collect user fees as required.
• Clean and maintain the landfill facility.

About the position

We are looking for multiple Plant Operators to assist with the operation, maintenance and upkeep of the Corangamite Regional Landfill (Council’s waste management facility) at Naroghid. This is a 6-month position to support our peak construction season.

The main responsibilities will include:

• Operating and maintaining plant, including compactors, tipper trucks, dozers and excavators, in an efficient and safe manner.


• Undertaking routine machine checks with regard to safe legal operation, fluid levels and lubrication points.


• Cleaning the machine inside and out at regular intervals.


• Maintaining accurate time sheets and work program documentation.


• Collecting user fees and attending to administrative/record keeping duties.


• Cleaning and maintaining the Landfill facility.

About you

• Certificates of competency for plant and/or machinery, with experience operating compactors, tipper trucks, dozers and/or excavators highly desirable.


• Sound working knowledge in the operation, safe use and maintenance of plant and equipment, with the ability to perform manual work in accordance with OH&S guidelines.


• Victorian Driver Licence, Construction Induction Card (white card) and recent National Police Check, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.


• Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence endorsement, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement, is highly desirable.


• Basic experience in administration, including the use of computer systems, is highly desirable.
